On the afternoon of August 6, 2009, in Hanoi, Song Da Corporation, Ministry of Construction, signed a contract to assume the role of General Contractor for the construction of Hua Na Hydropower Project.
Hua Na Hydropower Plant is built in Dong Van Commune, Que Phong District, Nghe An Province, with a total investment of over VND 4,684 billion; including 2 generators with a total capacity of 180MW with an average electricity output of 716.9 million kWh/year.
To speed up the construction progress and ensure the electricity generation target in 2012, the Government has allowed the project to be implemented under the 797-400 mechanism, a special mechanism of the Government for hydropower projects.
According to Hua Na Hydropower Joint Stock Company, the construction conditions of this project are very complicated, so although the capacity is 180MW, the construction volume is very large. The concrete volume alone is 760,000 m³ and the water tunnel is nearly 4km long, not to mention the very complicated geological and hydrological factors, so ensuring the progress on schedule will encounter many difficulties. Therefore, the founding shareholders of the Company, including the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN), Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) and a number of banks, agreed to appoint the consortium of contractors Song Da Corporation, Lilama, led by Song Da Corporation, as the General Contractor for the Hua Na Hydropower Project under the special mechanism 797-400. In the last months of 2012, Song Da 11 Joint Stock Company actively completed 75km of 220KV line from Hua Na plant to Thanh Hoa, meeting the demand for Unit 1 of Hua Na Hydropower Plant to generate electricity on schedule.
